Gearing Up for School Year 2017 - 2018

"They may forget what you've said, but they will never forget how you made them feel".

Teaching is a challenging job because there are so much to expect from a teacher. A teacher has to be everything anyone could expect him to be - a second parent to students, a disciplinarian, a confidant, a friend, and a giver of right information above all else. And in order for a teacher to continue educating the students, he has to constantly educate himself as well.

In preparation for the new school year, all teachers in our school  has to undergo a Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) initiated Summer In-Service Training Seminar and Workshop on our respective discipline in Senior High School. The usual discussion focus of this three days training is on standards-based curriculum, learning competencies and classroom instruction. Participants are expected to re-echo what they have learned from the training to their respective station and carry over such learning in teaching the students.

The training covered participants in the entire Region XI. That entails hundreds of Private School teachers all through out Region XI participated the said seminar. (bet they would need audio technica at2035?) In our school, there were ten of us who participated. And as expected, the training was tedious as it requires full participation from start to finish.Though in the end, a big chunk of the credits and benefits earned will be kept to ourselves.

I personally find professional enhancement like this very helpful because I believe learning doesn't end the moment we become licensed teachers. A true teacher never stops learning, instead.
